After quite a long time I’m getting back into my crochet properly. March is always a busy month for me in terms of birthdays, and to top it off Mother’s Day as well, so I got busy making some crochet garlands. I first saw them on Folksy being sold through Emma Lamb’s shop, but at the time there was no tutorial to purchase, just the finished product, until I got the March edition of Mollie Makes (which I have now subscribed to, and I love – perfect for a novice like me, especially when my commitment to craft is sporadic at best!). The lovely Emma Lamb published the tutorial in that edition, and it is now also available to purchase from her Folksy shop: http://folksy.com/items/3312750-diy-pdf-Pretty-Peggy-Garland-by-Emma-Lamb
I’ve adapted mine slightly to use some of the buttons that I am now accumulating through fabulous friends who give me the spares that come with various garments, and some that I’ve foundin thrift shops (Snoopers Paradise in Brighton is fantastic, well worth a visit!) and charity shops. In the space of less than a week I knocked out 3 of these – 2 for friends’ birthdays, and one for my truly wonderful mum for mother’s day. I’m not fab at taking photos with my phone (or my camera for that matter), but these were the best pics from the ones I took of the finished products….. I’m finally remembering to get photos of the things I make!
